About Me
Hi there! My name is Kaitlyn Blaszies and I am a junior undergraduate student at UMass Dartmouth. As a kid, I have always observed and questioned the world around me. This innate curiosity led me to critically analyze how our society functions , why inequalities exist and persist, and how people are shaped by their experiences and the culture they are immersed in. Being a sociology major has given me a unique perspective on the world and offers a new way of helping people. Along with being that one kid to always ask questions, I was, and like to think I still am, the one who offers a helping hand to those in need. I aspire to be a social worker in the future in order do give others support when they need it most.
When given this assignment, I immediately knew I wanted to do my project on New Bedford. I grew up in New Bedford and the city will always have a special place in my heart. The city has a rich history and it is a melting pot of so many different cultures and backgrounds. Although everyone is different, the people easily come together and strive for what is right. That is my absolute favorite thing about the city.
